A girl who married the man of her choice was burnt to death allegedly by her mother in Factory Area of Lahore on Wednesday, Dunya News reported.
17-year-old Zeenat had married Hassan a week ago after leaving her house.
Recently, Zeenat’s mother Parveen contacted her and told her that she had forgiven her. Parveen took her daughter back home, assuring that she wants to arrange a proper marriage function for her.
Early morning, both reportedly had an argument after which Parveen doused Zeenat in petrol and set her on fire. The victim succumbed to burn injuries at hospital.

Police have taken the mother into custody and further investigation is underway.
The incident comes a week after a teenage girl was tortured and set on fire for refusing a marriage proposal from the son of a former colleague in the village of Upper Dewal close to the summer hill resort of Murree, outside the capital Islamabad.
It was the third time in just over two months that a Pakistani woman had been murdered over a marriage issue.
A woman believed to be aged between 16-18 was drugged, strangled and her body burnt on the orders of a village jirga (council) in northwest Pakistan on April 29, allegedly for helping a friend to elope with her lover.
Pakistan, home to roughly 190 million people, sees thousands of cases of violence against women every year, from rape and acid attacks to sexual assault, kidnappings and so-called "honour killings".
